Tim Rasmusson Foundation History

The Tim Rasmusson Foundation began as a way to honor Tim’s memory, fill the void left by his loss, and keep his spirit alive. Tim’s cousin, Karissa Wright, initially envisioned a 5K race to honor him, but through collaboration with Tim’s friends and family their passion for the idea quickly grew into something much bigger. Together, they created the Tim Rasmusson Foundation.

The first event was the 2015 Timmay 5K which was dedicated to raising awareness for organ donation, a cause close to Tim’s heart. Though his passing was sudden, Tim’s gift as a registered organ donor impacted many lives. Proceeds from the event supported the Gift of Life Transplant House in Rochester, Minnesota.

Our Mission

Targeting togetherness to help others.
Tim’s friends were determined to keep alive the sense of community and spirit he created. Inspired by this, they founded the Tim Rasmusson Foundation, dedicated to hosting heartfelt gatherings and supporting causes that were close to Tim’s heart. Tim’s passion for traditional archery further shaped our mission, which became clear: Targeting Togetherness to Help Others.

Remembering Tim

Tim Rasmusson truly embodied kindness, connection, and a deep passion for life. On April 9, 2014, at just 26 years old, Tim passed away suddenly from an ascending aortic aneurysm. Though his time here was far too short, his legacy continues to inspire and unite us.

A proud graduate of Rochester Century High School (2006) and Dakota County Technical College (2010), Tim pursued a career as an electrical lineman with People’s Energy Cooperative. He was passionate about his work and found great joy in helping others. Known lovingly as “Timmay” by his friends, he was a true outdoorsman, cherishing time spent hunting, fishing, and practicing traditional archery.

Tim’s love for life didn’t stop there—he was a self-taught guitarist who found joy in music and attending concerts. He was a loyal fan of his favorite teams—the Vikings, Twins, and Wild—regardless of their record. Tim also adored dogs, especially his beloved Bailey, whom he adopted after buying his first home. But above all else, Tim was a devoted son, brother, and friend. His loyalty, warmth, and humor touched everyone who knew him.

His compassion extended beyond his life. Through the gift of organ and tissue donation, Tim gave the ultimate gift of life, including restoring sight to two individuals.

Thank you for joining us in honoring his memory by turning his love, connection, and compassion into enduring change.
